The main function of magnesium is energy production. Magnesium is a major component of bones and teeth and helps to regulate heart rhythm and calcium and potassium metabolism. In addition, it enhances the immune system and may help to increase HDL or good cholesterol and prevent cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. It also helps ensure good sleep. Magnesium can help prevent depression, PMS, dizziness, muscle weakness and premature labor and convulsions in pregnant women.

Too little magnesium could interfere with the transmission of nerve and muscle impulses and cause irritability, tiredness and nervousness. Too little of this mineral could also result in loss of appetite, cramps, abnormal heart rhythms and feelings of weakness.

The foods rich in magnesium are apples, apricots, avocados, bananas, brown rice, cantaloupe melon, dairy products, fish, garlic, grapefruit, green leafy vegetables, lemon, meat, nuts, potatoes, salmon, tofu and many more.

On the other hand, our body also need good bacteria to be healthy. This good bacterium is known as probiotics. It may help with digestion and prevent from harmful bacteria. It also treat diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, reduce bladder cancer recurrence, prevent and treat eczema in children. Probiotics can be found in foods such as yogurt. In addition, probiotics are added to some foods and it is also available as dietary supplements.
